This is a 1 to 1 replica firearm retains the compactness and detail of it's steel brother yet retains. This AirSoft M639 has an overall appearance of an American downsized .45 1911 model that separates its unique design character from European compact autos of the time. The Model 639 is a slightly upgraded gun from the early Model 39 of the same manufacturer by adding a rear sight adjuster and protective sight ears. Not only does Y & P include this semi-functional feature on their AirSoft version, but have also added a textured trigger guard to rest the index finger of the supportive hand on a two-handed hold. The ejecting magazine is weighted down and fits inside the grip that is surprisingly comfortable for an early automatic. As with all Taiwanese AirSoft guns, the M-639 has a robust construct to it when gripping or when operating the slide to deliver moderate accuracy.
Even though the M-639 isn’t as popular as the 9 millimeter European counterparts, it is a first-of-it’s-kind gun in it’s time for the American military.
Now offered as a medium-powered AirSoft gun by Y & P, this gun is an exacting 1 to 1 scale and well detailed replica of the 4506 in black or clear finish. The basic design of the slide and frame are that of the famed .45 1911-A1 Government model but with a few major and minor changes that sets itself apart from other .45’s. The overall appearance of the gun is more hard-edged in the styling than with the average .45 1911 automatics. Lines and surfaces are more angular and defined. In terms of the modern slide on this AirSoft 4506, there exists a taller front target sight with adjustable-like and protected rear sight assembly with a flat top spine in between. Molded into the slide are accurate detailing of left/right safety levers and serration with an enlarged ejection port exposing a simulated polished chamber. The lower frame is also well detailed and is the most distinguishing component of the 4506. The frame is taller and wider than that of the 1911 frame to accommodate the larger, ergonomically textured wrap-around-molded grip. This large frame makes the gun sit higher above the hand so that the shooting hand can remain at a lower level while still keeping an effective sight picture. The trigger guard is shaped and textured for the supportive hand’s index finger on a two-handed hold. Working features in the frame are the slide release lever and the magazine release that is very effective.
Essentially these modifications were geared more towards a target pistol and have become a great success with shooters of all types. With the advent of the 4506, a third generation of different caliber automatics has appeared by the same manufacturer using the same basic yet effective slide and frame. With Y & P’s version of the 4506, one of those new caliber is now in 6 millimeter AirSoft.
