History of Airsoft guns

Airsoft refers to a class of replica air powered guns that originated from Japan. They are 1:1 scale copies of famous pistols and rifles such as Colt, Walther, Beretta and the M16. They are made from high impact ABS plastics and metal alloys. They fire 6mm plastic BB's or paintballs. These BB's are unable to penetrate aluminum cans, which makes them much safer than other air guns.

Played in a similar fashion to PaintBall, Airsoft has over the years literally taken Japan by storm. There are now Airsoft war games, shooting competions, tournaments, Tradeshows, and even a World Cup. Airsoft has recently been growing in popularity in North America. Although it does not have the same type of following here, it is now officially recognized as a sport.

You must wear eye protection while shooting. These BB guns are very well made to the point that they look like the real thing! They are to be purchased and used by adult 18 years of age or older. NEVER take/transport in open view/ brandish/ or use these gun in public areas. Treat all air guns with the same respect of a real gun. Check your local ordinance for specific regulations. Orange marking are required by law and can not be removed.

Loading the pistol

Just pull back the slide for each shot. This action moves a piston head within a cylinder rearward to draw air in and compress the spring. At the end of the piston head’s travel, a hook or "sear" engages the piston and holds it in place with the spring at full compression. When the trigger is pulled, the sear releases the piston, allowing it to travel forward from the energy released by the compressed spring. The air pressure generated inside the cylinder creates a jet of air that propels the BB and sends it on it’s way through the barrel and outward to the target. A simple process as this, earns the simple designation of "Air" or "Spring" gun classification in AirSoft. Sizes and materials of cylinders, pistons, and springs will vary depending on the gun configuration

This picture shows how to load the BB pellets into the magazine.
