There is a special category of small arms under the old term of "machine pistol" that is beginning to gain popularity with today's manufacturers, consumers, and shooters. Unlike the typically designed select-fire micro machine-guns, these sidearms utilize the more familiar handgun configuration using an upper slide, lower frame, and integrated magazine housing within the grip, operation by single- or burst-fire. The most popular and successful of these models is one that is built on the already-successful M-92F automatic. Upgraded to what is called the M-93R, this gun fills that slight niche between the handgun and the machine pistol.
